Get your dose of holiday magic

Make the holidays even more festive for your family by using OnStar to follow Santa

The holidays are a time for celebration! Get your season off to a jolly start by making some magic for you and your family: Follow Santa by pressing your blue OnStar button* or using the OnStar Guardian app.* It all starts at 6 a.m. ET on December 18 and runs until 5 a.m. ET Christmas Day, so there are plenty of chances for children (of all ages) to find out what Santa’s doing right now. And for every button push, OnStar will donate* to the Canadian Red Cross* -- a great way to help those who need it most.

You can follow Santa’s travels on Christmas Eve using the map on the OnStar Guardian app.

Dreams come true

Hayley S. of Texas was thrilled when her daughter Charlie was able to use OnStar to Follow Santa. It reminded her of her childhood. “I love Christmas for so many reasons, but something that will always stick with me are the moments of being a kid looking to the sky to see if you can see Santa. Watching Charlie do the same just melts my heart,” she said.

Melani P. of Texas started using OnStar to follow Santa when her daughter Karen was just 4 years old.

On Christmas Eve, they headed out to Melani’s Cadillac in the driveway and pushed the blue OnStar button. “I told the Advisor that there was a 4-year-old in the car who wanted to know where Santa was,” Melani says. “They were very kind and explained where Santa was and that Karen had to be a good girl.”

Karen’s eyes lit up when she learned that Santa was approaching the Great Wall of China, Melani says. Karen had just learned about China’s wall and made a clear connection. Maybe Santa really would bring her a doll house after all. (He did.)

So, no matter where the family is Christmas Eve, one thing is already on the schedule: pushing that little blue button to locate the big man.

You’re never too old for Santa

For Bob and Diana K of California, following Santa just adds another layer of excitement to the family’s fun.

“We get together Christmas Eve at our daughter’s home near San Diego,” Bob explains. Years ago, when the family’s youngest granddaughters were still in diapers, they put out milk, cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer. Then they trotted out to Bob and Diana’s vehicle to push the blue OnStar button to see exactly where Santa was on his annual journey.

Even though the granddaughters are now older, they still ask to find out where Santa is. “It fits in very nicely with the rest of the things we do on Christmas Eve,” Bob says. “We call OnStar to see how much time they have before they have to get their fannies to bed,” he laughs.

OnStar helping us find Santa is “a neat way to give back to the community in a fun, positive way,” Bob adds.

If you’re not in your vehicle, call 877.446.6723 to check Santa’s progress. Or, visit @NORADSanta on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #NORADTracksSanta for his location. St. Nick’s location is updated continuously.
