OnStar Smart Driver* provides you with information about your driving behavior to help maximize your vehicle’s overall performance, reduce vehicle wear and tear, and help you become a better driver. You will be able to earn badges, get valuable feedback from each trip and access your driving data.
OnStar Smart Driver is currently available in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Certain features of OnStar Smart Driver are included with your vehicle purchase. The premium features of OnStar Smart Driver+ require a paid plan (Premium, Essentials, Safety & Security, Connected Vehicle or Remote Access).
There is no additional charge for you to enroll in OnStar Smart Driver. However, the premium features of OnStar Smart Driver+ require a paid plan (Premium, Essentials, Safety & Security, Connected Vehicle or Remote Access).
All OnStar Members with a 2015 model year or newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac vehicle and an active GM account (previously Owner Centre) can enroll in OnStar Smart Driver.

You can enroll in OnStar Smart Driver using your myChevrolet, myBuick, myGMC or myCadillac mobile app.
Upon consent and enrollment in OnStar Smart Driver, depending on vehicle capability, the vehicle will collect specific driving behavior data, including hard braking events, hard acceleration events, speeds over 110 kilometres per hour, average speed, late-night driving, when a trip occurs and the number of kilometres driven.
OnStar Smart Driver data is collected by OnStar from the vehicle for every ignition cycle.

We use technical, administrative and physical safeguards designed to help protect Members’ information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, destruction or theft. OnStar doesn’t share personally identifiable information with an insurance company without your express consent.
No. Your OnStar Smart Driver information will not be visible to other OnStar Members unless you have shared your vehicle with another individual through Family Sharing.
Generally, trip data will be available within a few minutes, but it could take up to 24 hours, depending on the length of the trip, traffic on the network and other factors.
