A family on the go can get a lot from an OnStar membership, including Super Cruise Trailering. 

There’s plenty of room to roam out there. That doesn’t mean the open road is always inviting. OnStar Member Eric F. was faced with what he expected to be a daunting day behind the wheel — hours of towing a trailer for a big camping trip.

“After setting up the trailer profile and engaging Super Cruise, the drive was pleasantly smooth and stress-free,” Eric says.

“When you’re towing, the trailer is a significant concern,” Eric says. “You can concentrate more on it because you know that Super Cruise is taking care of a bulk of the driving function.”

 “A lot of towing is anticipating, you leave yourself more lead time,” Eric says. “I think there’s a level of confidence with the system.
The first thing it does if there’s a problem is decelerate, and you stay in control. You can feel the system being proactive.”

There’s an exhaustion that comes with any long drive, but it’s multiplied when you’re towing. You’re constantly thinking about the trailer, the added weight and the extra length. There’s a lot more to pay attention to throughout the length of the trip.   

 

“An 800-kilometre trip, you get tense by the end of it because you’ve got a lot more to consider,” he says. “Super Cruise really does take a lot of the stress out of it, and you don’t feel as mentally exhausted.” 

Remote thoughts 

A lot of Members will turn to OnStar when they’re locked out of their vehicle. Eric has a slightly different problem — one he can solve just as easily with the myCadillac® mobile app connected by OnStar.* “You know how some people always wonder if they left the iron on or if they closed the garage door?” he says. “I always wonder if I locked the car. So, using the app, I can verify that I locked the door or lock it if I didn’t. It’s great.”
